League News:

Congratulations to senior Aleshia Ayers from Rosemont High School! Aleshia has verbally committed to Villanova University of the Big East Conference. She is the reigning 2011 Metro League MVP in softball and 2011 1st team ALL City selection by the Sacramento Bee. Aleshia is a 3 year varsity starter for the Wolverines and is currently ranked #1 academically in her class. Aleshia will be signing her Letter of Intent on November 16th @10 am in the school library. The Metro Conference wishes her the best of luck in the 2012 season for Rosemont High School and for the following year as a softball player for Villanova. We know she will represent us well.


The Metro League congratulates both Casey Dudley and Paola Flores of Sacramento High School. These Metro League were both awarded $600 Dale Lackey Scholarships by the Sac-Joaquin Section. THe Metro League is very proud of these student athletes.

CASEY DUDLEY (SACRAMENTO) – Casey is a four-year member of the Sacramento football program. He also played baseball for two years and ran track for one. It isn’t a CIF-sanctioned sport, but he’s also a nationallyranked weightlifter. He was named to the second-team all-Metro team his junior and senior years. He’s a member of the Sacramento High Ambassadors, who speak at middle schools throughout the community, and he’s involved in Link Crew, which mentors incoming freshmen. He’s been named to the Honor Roll every term. He’s worked over 160 hours as a volunteer within his community. Casey maintains a 3.88 GPA, and plans to attend Occidental College, although he’s been accepted to several colleges ranking from Alabama State to Grambling to San Diego State. He plans on majoring in physics or engineering with the hope of becoming an electrical engineer.

PAOLA FLORES (SACRAMENTO) – Paola is a four-year varsity soccer player who has received several player of the game honors, was named first-team all-Metro and has won awards for her communication and positive attitude. She’s the student body Vice President, member of the homecoming committee and the multicultural committee. She was named the St. Hope student of the year. She volunteers at local elementary schools as an office assistant, teacher aide, tutor and Spanish interpreter. Paola has a 4.06 GPA, which is No. 1 in her class of 170. She is planning on attending Santa Clara University, although she’s been accepted to St. Mary’s, Cal Poly and various CSU campuses. She plans on majoring in aerospace engineering with the goal to work in the aerospace field.
